- General Duty & General Duty (Pilot) (Male):
- Should hold a Bachelor’s degree of recognized university with minimum 60% marks in aggregate
- (ie.1 st Semester to 8th Semester for BE/B.Tech or 1st year to last year for Bachelor Degree Candidates wherever applicable). Mathematics and Physics as subject up to intermediate or class XII of 10+2+3 scheme of education or equivalent with 60% aggregate marks in Maths & Physics [Candidates not in possession of Physics & Maths in 10 + 2 (Intermediate) level or equivalent are not eligible for General Duty (GD) & General Duty (Pilot)].
- 01 Jul 1992 to 30 Jun 1996 (both dates inclusive).
- Technical branch (Mechanical and Electrical) (Male):
- Engineering degree with 60% marks in aggregate or Should have passed Sections A and B examination from the Institution of Engineers (India) in any of the discipline listed below with 60% marks.
- Engineering Branch Naval architecture or Mechanical or Marine or Automotive or Mechatronics or Industrial and Production or Metallurgy or Design or Aeronautical or Aerospace.
- Electrical Branch Electrical or Electronics or Telecommunication or Instrumentation or Instrumentation and Control or Electronics and Communication or Power Engg. or Power Electronics.
- All the above streams of Engg. must be recognised by All India Council of Technical Education (AICTE).
- Atleast 60% marks in aggregate in Physics and Maths in 12th class. or
- Three year diploma course with an aggregate of 60%

- Commercial Pilot License-SSA (Male & Women):
- 12th class pass with 60% marks in aggregate and should possess current / valid Commercial Pilot License (CPL) issued/validated by DGCA on the date of submission of application

- General Duty (Women):
- Should hold a Bachelor’s degree of recognized university with minimum 60% marks in aggregate. Mathematics and Physics as subjects up to intermediate or class XII of 10+2+3 scheme of education with 60% aggregate marks of both subjects

Selection Procedure:
Selection Procedure:
Short listing of Applications. Short listing criteria will be based on higher percentage of marks in the qualifying examination and the qualifying cut off for a particular branch or centre may be increased more than 60% if more applications with higher % are received.
- Stage -I
- Preliminary Selection: Shortlisted candidates will be called for Preliminary Selection at given date and time which will consist of Mental Ability Test/ Cognitive Aptitude Test and Picture Perception & Discussion Test (PP&DT). The aptitude test will be in English only and will be objective type. During PP&DT the candidates are expected to speak and discuss in English. However they are free to speak in Hindi if they wish to do so Date/ time and venue of Preliminary Selection once allotted will not be changed at any stage.
- Stage -II
- Final Selection: The candidates qualifying above Preliminary Selection will be called for Final Selection. The date and venue for Final Selection Board (FSB) will be uploaded on Indian Coast Guard website www.joinindiancoastguard.gov.in The Final Selection Board will consist of Psychological Test, Group Task and Interview (Personality test). All documents/certificates verified during PSB are also required to be produced in originals during FSB.
- Medicals: All candidates recommended by Final Selection Board will undergo Medical examination at nearest Military Hospital. Candidates for GD (Pilot) and CPL will undergo medical at AFCME, Delhi / IAM, Bengaluru.
- PABT & CPSS: GD (Pilot) candidates on qualifying FSB will be required to appear for PABT and CPSS at Dehradun / Mysore AFSBs. Those already qualified PABT & CPSS are to provide details of batch, Chest number and place while filling up PIQ forms during FSB.
- Validity of Selection: The candidate's selection pertaining to a particular batch is valid for that batch only. Qualified candidates whose names do not appear in the final merit list will have no rights for automatic selection for the next batch. Such candidates will have to undergo the selection procedure afresh provided that they meet the eligibility criteria for the fresh batch.
- Reasons for Rejection: The candidature of a candidate can be rejected at any time during the process of selection if
- having detected not meeting any of the above laid down criteria/ conditions of educational qualifications, age, submission of wrong information in the application or false certificates etc.
- act of indiscipline activities including copying, cheating, malpractices or data recording during any of the testing procedures.
- Merit List: Recommendation in FSB does not confirm the final selection. A merit list will be prepared for the medically fit candidates on the basis of marks obtained by the candidates at FSB and depending on the availability of vacancies. The number of vacancies may vary from branch to branch and will be decided at a later date depending on the number of training vacancies available at the training establishments. The list of candidates selected on the basis of merit list will be uploaded in Coast Guard recruitment website www.joinindiancoastguard.gov.in during the month of December 2016.

(Course Commencing February 2017.). Name of Posts: Sailors - Senior Secondary Recruits (SSR)
Full Educational Qualification: 10+2/ equivalent examination with Maths & Physics and atleast one of
these subjects:- Chemistry / Biology / Computer science.
Age limit: Candidates should have been born between 01 Feb 1996 to 31 Jan 2000 (Both dates inclusive)
Selection Criteria: Selection of recruits is based on the order of merit on their performance in Written Test, qualifying Physical Fitness Test (PFT) and fitness in Medical Examinations.
- Written Test:
- The question paper will be bilingual (Hindi & English) and objective type.
- The question paper will comprise of four sections i.e. English, Science, Mathematics and General
- Knowledge.
- The question paper will be of 10+2 standard and the syllabus for the examination is available on website www.joinindiannavy.gov.in.
- Duration of examination will be one hour.
- The candidates are required to pass in all sections and in aggregate.
- Physical Fitness Test (PFT): PFT will consist of 1.6 Km run to be completed in 7minutes, 20 squat ups (Uthak Baithak) and 10 Push-ups. Candidates undergoing PFT will do so at their own risk.
- Medical Standards:
- Medical examination will be conducted by authorised military doctors as per medical standards prescribed in current regulations applicable to sailors on entry.
- Minimum height 157 cms. Weight and Chest should be proportionate. Minimum chest expansion of
- 5 cms.
- The candidate must be in good physical and mental health, free from any defect likely to interfere with the efficient performance of duties both ashore and afloat under peace as well as war conditions as per Navy Order (Special) 01/2008.
- Initial Medical Examination for recruitment will be considered only “Provisionally fit subject to fitness in the final medical examination”. Final Medical Examination of all selected candidates will be done at INS Chilka. Candidates who are NOT found medically fit in the final medical examination at INS Chilka, will NOT be enrolled for training. No “Appeal” is permitted for review after the final enrolment medical examination at INS Chilka.
- Visual Standards:
- Without Glasses: Better Eye - 6/6 | Worse Eye - 6/9
- With Glasses: Better Eye - 6/6 | Worse Eye - 6/6
- Tattoos: Permanent body tattoos are only permitted on inner face of forearms i.e, from inside of elbow to the wrist and on the reversed side of palm/ back (dorsal) side of hand. Permanent body tattoos on any other part of the body is not acceptable and candidate will be barred from recruitment.
